The next two years of Disney Movies

Honor Hunter at Blue Sky Disney has a list of what films we can expect from the various film studios under the Walt Disney Company umbrella over the next few years. There’s about 22 total. Not all of them will make it into the theaters, but you might want to surf on over and see if anything excites you.

The ones I’m looking forward to the most are Wall-E, The Princess and the Frog, and Up. All animated films, not coincidentally.

    TOP 10 DISNEY MOVIES

    10. Pinocchio (1940): The movie that made me the good boy I am today. If you think I’m going to be turned into a jackass on Pleasure Island, fagedaboudit! I save that for Friday mornings.

Toy Story9. Toy Story (1995): Possibly the easiest animated Disney movie for any adult to sit through more than once. The first major computer generated cartoon movie, it ushered in a trend. Whether the trend is good or bad has yet to be determined.

The Rescuers8. The Rescuers (1977): Included because it is the only Disney animated movie to make me laugh out loud in a theater. Penny to Bernard and Bianca: “Who are you?” Bernard: “We’re here to rescue you.” Penny: “Couldn’t you have brought somebody bigger?” Well, I thought it was funny.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea7. 20,000 Legaues Under the Sea (1954): An absolutely great little boy movie. Kirk Douglas and Jame Mason star in the story of Captain Nemo and his submarine, the Nautilus. Thrills! Chills!! Giant squids!!!

Bambi6. Bambi (1942): I absolutely defy anyone to keep a dry eye when Bambi’s mother dies. My first lesson in mortality. Dumbo

    5. Dumbo (1941): One of the best animated movies ever made, because it captures everychild’s fear that he is different, and raises every child’s hope that one day he can soar.

Mary Poppins4. Mary Poppins (1964): Disney’s best non-animated film, with a wonderful performance by the ever-classy Julie Andrews and the wonderful Dick Van Dyke. But it still didn’t deserve the Best Picture Oscar as much as In Cold Blood did.

    Beauty and the Best

    3. Beauty and the Beast (1991): The only animated film ever to be nominated for Best Picture. Okay, so it was a weak year. But the movie has sparked a musical and a cottage industry, and my daughter loves Belle.

Fantasia2. Fantasia (1940): It’s hard to tell whether Fantasia helped or harmed thce cause of classical music, but it certainly brought it to the masses. “Night on Bald Mountain” is about as scary as a cartoon can get, and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” is a masterpiece of animation.

Snow White1. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937): The first full length Disney animated feature, which was either going to make him or break him. A colossal risk and a colossal success. Still a wonderful movie, and the song “Hi Ho” has sent me off to work smiling on more than one occasion.

Movie titles available for downloading include ‘Aladdin’, ‘Armageddon’

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Microsoft Corp. said Tuesday it struck a deal to make 35 Disney movies, such as the animated hit “Aladdin” and the action title “Armageddon,” available for download on its online video game service.

The high-definition movies will be available to U.S. subscribers of Microsoft’s Xbox Live, said Peter Moore, a corporate vice president in Microsoft’s entertainment and devices division, which is responsible for the Xbox business.

(MSNBC.com is a Microsoft – NBC Universal joint venture.)

The agreement with Disney-ABC Domestic Television will also allow Xbox 360 owners to rent films on demand as they become available from Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Miramax Films and Hollywood Pictures.

Xbox Live already offers movies and television shows from more than two dozen other content providers, the company said.

The service has more than 7 million members, a figure that will hit 10 million by June, Moore said a news conference.

He used the event on the eve of the E3 Media & Business Summit to tout the system’s lineup of holiday games.

One title called “Scene it?” is a movie-trivia board game that Microsoft will sell with four simplified, large-buttoned wireless controllers.

Moore mentioned other games, including the anticipated sci-fi shooter “Halo 3″ from Bungie Studios, “Mass Effect” from BioWare Corp. and “Grand Theft Auto IV” from Rockstar Games.

To go along with the Sept. 25 launch of Halo 3, Microsoft will sell a Halo-themed version of its Xbox 360 console.

    Disney movie & movies

In Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End the player will get to play both Dead Mans Chest and At Worlds End. Playable characters are Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swan and many of the other characters for a short while such as Barbosa or Mr Gibbs.

Ill start off with the character likeness. Many of the characters are exactly like they are in the films but a few such as Elizabeth and Captain Teague are not. The voices for most of the characters are done very well but everyone would rather the original cast contributed. Nobody would miss out on the comedy they got in the film from Jack Sparrow or the seriousness of Will turner.

The gameplay is the same that you get in games like LOTR and is a bit repetitive and you are limited to moves that you are able to do. Most of the time you will be running around using a sword to attack but side weapons are available such as grenades which are very fun to use if there is an enemy far away and the flintlock pistol is very fun as well and also throwing knives are awesome. There are times where you will have to use a different form of combat against bosses and this is called dueling. The dueling system is entertaining at first but can get a bit boring as its just the same stuff over again.

The graphics are different for the ps2 and ps3 version of course but the ps2 version is very different. Ps3 graphics are reasonable but could have been better because it saught of does look like that they were just crammed in.

The game does stick to the same story lines as in the films but not really events that happen during it. Of course there are the missions such as escaping from the prison at the the beginning of Dead Mans Chest and playing as William to grab the key of Davey Jones but the game lacks what really happened during the film.

This game is a very fun game but is not recommended for those who do not like repetitive games and delivers the experience that you would get in a movie type game. Overall 7/10
